Shopify store development and migration

Shopify handles the hosting, the cart and the compliance. What it does not handle is your catalogue being a mess, your ERP not talking to it, or a subscription model the platform was never designed for. That is the part we do.

You are probably here because

If two or three of these are true, this is a problem worth fixing properly.

  • You are selling on Instagram or WhatsApp and need a real storefront
  • Your current store is on Magento, WooCommerce or a builder and is slow to change
  • The theme you bought does almost what you need, and the last 10% is impossible
  • Stock in the store and stock in your ERP disagree, and someone reconciles it by hand
  • You want to sell subscriptions and the off-the-shelf apps do not fit your pricing
  • Your product data lives in a spreadsheet nobody wants to migrate

What you get

Store build and theme work
A storefront built on a solid theme and customised properly in Liquid — not a pile of app embeds. Sections your team can rearrange without calling us.
Migration with the SEO kept
Products, variants, customers and order history moved across, with old URLs mapped and redirected so the search visibility you have already paid for survives.
Integrations that stay in sync
ERP, inventory, accounting and shipping connected through the Admin API, with retries and reconciliation so a failed sync surfaces in a report rather than as a wrong stock count.
Subscriptions and custom checkout logic
Recurring plans, prorated changes and renewal handling — either configured on an existing subscription app or built where your pricing does not fit one.

How it runs

  1. Audit the catalogue

Before anything is built we look at your product data, because messy variants and inconsistent options cause more migration pain than the code ever does.

  2. Build on a development store

Shopify gives partners free development stores. Yours is built and reviewed on one, so nothing is live until you have clicked through it.

  3. Migrate and redirect

Data moved, URLs mapped, redirects in place. We check the redirect map against your current top-traffic pages rather than hoping.

  4. Launch and watch

We stay on it through the first order peak, with reconciliation running between Shopify and your other systems from day one.

Questions we get asked

What is a Shopify store, in plain terms?

A hosted online shop. You pay Shopify a monthly fee and they run the hosting, the cart, the checkout and the card compliance. You get an admin to manage products and orders, and a storefront that can be designed and extended. You are renting the platform rather than owning the code underneath it.

Should I use Shopify or have something custom built?

Use Shopify if you are selling reasonably standard products and want to be live quickly with checkout and compliance handled for you. Build custom when your pricing, fulfilment or integrations genuinely do not fit the platform — and be honest that this is rarer than founders think. We will tell you which case you are in even when the answer costs us the larger project.

What does Shopify itself cost?

Shopify charges a monthly subscription plus a transaction fee, with the fee reduced if you use Shopify Payments. Plans and rates change, so check shopify.com for current pricing. That is separate from what a build costs, and it continues for as long as the store runs.

Can you move my existing store to Shopify?

Yes — from Magento, WooCommerce, BigCommerce or a site builder. The work is mostly in the product data and the redirect map rather than the storefront. Rankings are usually lost when a migration changes every URL with no redirects; done properly they generally hold or improve, because the new store is faster.

Can Shopify handle subscriptions?

Through apps, yes, and for standard recurring plans an app is the right answer — cheaper and faster than anything custom. Where it gets difficult is proration on mid-term changes, unusual billing cycles and refunds against a partly used term. That is the work we know well.

Will I be able to run the store myself afterwards?

That is the point. Shopify admin is built for non-developers, and we set the theme up with proper sections so your team can change content, add products and run campaigns without a developer. Documentation and a walkthrough come at handover.
